Meditation ON Vampires

The world has bad people in it.

There are good people too.

But there are bad people.

There are people who get their pleasure from the pain, subjugation, or sabotage of others. There are also people who get their pleasure from steeling. Then there are those who get their pleasure from harming children. Bad people do harmful things to other people.

That doesn’t mean they are incapable of love or kindness, but it does mean they are bad.

We live in a mixed bag world and mistake good people for bad and bad people for good. Some people say we shouldn’t judge, others say only God can judge me, and others still say you don’t know what I have been through. I just want to say it is not only essential but also important to judge an action whether it is helpful or harmful. If a person continues to harm others psychologically, physically or socially they are a bad person. They should not be trusted with your business, your kids, or your personal affairs.

I don’t remember who said it, but it will always stick with me, “You can make a bad deal with a good person, but you can never make a good deal with a bad person.”

Life is somewhat simple that way. When you have kids and there is a kid hit other kids you tell them to avoid that kid. The same goes with adults, if you see someone acting evil, malicious, or underhanded, avoid them.

It is childish to pretend that we live in a world where people are generally good.

Some people are just bad.

There is no balancing the two.

A bad guy will cover up his harmful actions with helpful ones. That doesn’t erase the harm.

We are all human and make mistakes and no we are not all evil. But let’s not pretend we can trust everyone.

We live in a time when villains are being humanized, sympathized with, and made heroes. Vampires are boyfriends, serial killers are creative, and gangsters are something to aspire to. The entertainment world twists justice for entertainment and in truth, we soaked it in. Bikers looked mean, tough and ready to do harm to anyone, because that is what they did. And over time people who never hit anyone adopted their look and became upset when people looked at them with the same judgment that they did the bikers that ran the roads.

We don’t live in a time when it is okay to say that there are bad people, but the truth is prisons are full of bad people. There are bad people who take their pleasure from the pain of others, and on some level, we normalized that with horror flicks and anti-heroes. If life were a struggle of good vs evil would you know what side was winning?

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
